Macedonia, Good Luck!

In collaboration with Antigoni Tsagkaropoulou

In September 2018, Space Manifesto and Antigoni Tsagkaropoulou performed "Macedonia, Good Luck!" at ASFA BBQ: The Garden of Dystopian Pleasures curated by FYTA and the Ministry of Post-Thuth. By mixing trashy references, fluffy and drag elements and political discourse, they created a kaleidoscopic spectacle deconstructing nationalist cliches through a uniquely, perverse, utopian futurism.

Summary:

Space Manifesto was on stage as a mermaid reading greek nationalist and orthodox christian books including conspiracy theories regarding Greece and Turkey, the Macedonian naming dispute, christianism etc as well as gossip and crossword puzzle magazines. At the same time, Antigoni's audio collages were on play. These collages included greek folk music tracks, singing improvisations and spoken word.

Then, Space lip-synced a greek patriot song about Alexander the Great and Crete. The song trasformed into an audio collage made by Ersi Giannoulatou for the performance. This audio collage included sound parts of national TV Shows and youtube videos regarding the Macedonian naming dispute, ancient Greece, the Church etc.

Therefore, along with the fluffy wolfsheep, Space improvised by doing spoken word regarding the Macedonian naming dispute while making humorous commentary on the mainstream a-political Greek art scene (Athens School of Fine Arts, Greek National Gallery etc). At the same time the fluffy wolfsheep improvised dancing greek tsifteteli.

At the end of the performance, Space fisted the fluffy wolfsheep's ass and gave birth to the Macedonian Halva, a traditional southern Macedonian sweet. Then the fluffy wolfsheep (Antigoni) transformed into a dancer wearing a white and blue dress (the colours of the Greek flag). They ate the halva while serving it to the audience. Then, while the audience was eating, Space (wearing the Macedonian flag) openly talked about the fear she had with Antigone of being targeted by the greek nazis for this show and called the audience to unite taking action against fascism.
